JJM Boiler Works NBT-23 pH treatment tank
Both hot water heaters and HVAC systems can be configured so that cold water lines run past flue gases; this preheats the water inside to provide additional energy economy. As the hot gases encounter the cold pipes, those gases condense and the resulting drip is highly acidic.
The NBT-23 pH Treatment Tank from JJM Boiler Works uses replaceable porous pouches of magnesium hydroxide pellets to neutralize those acids by 1-3 pH). The effect is much more complete and much more reliable than the more common approach of limestone chips in a pit.
Its inlet is 7/8” from its base; its outlet is 3” from its base. Condensate has to rise through more than 2 inches of pellets before it can be discharged in this gravity-only flow system. The tank can handle flows up to 2.4 gallons per hour; its dimensions are (HWD, inches) are 11-3/4 x 4-3/4 x 4-7/8. Inlet and outlet connections are 7/8-inch PVC
